Saint Petersburg fishery forum draws global tackle interest

The IX Global Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo Russia is set to open its doors at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre in Saint Petersburg from 16 to 18 September 2026, organisers Expo Solutions Group have confirmed. The annual event, now firmly established as Russia’s flagship fisheries trade show, brings together catch companies, aquaculture operators, processors, shipowners, freight firms, packaging equipment producers, and tackle manufacturers under one roof.

For international fishing tackle suppliers, the Saint Petersburg platform carries growing significance as Russia’s domestic angling market continues to expand alongside rising consumer interest in recreational fishing. The 2025 edition, held at the same venue, drew thousands of trade visitors and featured exhibitors spanning the full fisheries value chain. Organisers have already published the 2025 exhibition catalogue online along with a virtual tour, offering prospective 2026 participants a preview of the show’s scale and product segmentation.

Product sectors covered at the expo include aquaculture equipment, processing machinery, cold-chain logistics and storage solutions, packaging technology, and finished seafood — alongside a dedicated fishing tackle segment that has gained traction in recent editions. The diversity of exhibitor categories reflects Russia’s dual identity as both a major wild-capture fishing nation and an emerging recreational angling market where imported rods, reels, lures and accessories command strong interest from retailers and distributors.

The timing of the September show positions it strategically within the global trade fair calendar, running ahead of the European fishing tackle circuit and giving Chinese and Asian manufacturers an early window to showcase new product ranges to Russian and CIS-region buyers. Industry observers note that Russia’s recreational fishing sector has shown resilience despite broader economic headwinds, with domestic participation rates climbing and specialty tackle retail chains continuing to add store locations across major cities.

Saint Petersburg’s ExpoForum venue, located on Peterburgskoye Shosse, has hosted the fishery forum since its inception and offers the exhibition floor space and conference infrastructure needed to accommodate the event’s expanding programme. The concurrent Global Fishery Forum conference stream adds a policy and industry-development dimension, addressing issues ranging from sustainable catch quotas and aquaculture investment to export market access and trade logistics — topics of direct relevance to tackle manufacturers evaluating long-term positioning in the Russian market.

International exhibitors interested in participating can access the exhibitor manual and registration details through the official Seafood Expo Russia website. The platform’s multi-language support, including English-language exhibition materials and virtual tours, is designed to lower the barrier for first-time overseas exhibitors and streamline booth planning for returning participants.

With the 2026 edition still three months out, early registration is expected to attract tackle brands from across Europe and Asia seeking to build or reinforce distribution relationships in Russia. As the global fishing tackle industry continues to seek diversified export markets beyond traditional Western European strongholds, the Saint Petersburg show is positioning itself as an increasingly relevant gateway to the Russian and wider Eurasian recreational fishing market.
